The Best One-on-One Meeting Part 1 | Isogo TV Episode 7

Last week, a manager I work with was going into a 1-on-1 meeting with one of her essential and high-performing, yet totally-relationally-destructive team members. She knew it was the right thing to do to address the behavior, but she wasn’t exactly looking forward to it.

There were so many questions and unknowns — how should she bring it up, what if he disagrees or denies it, what if it changes their relationships, what if it makes things worse??

This is tough work — as a manager of other people. And man, those 1-on-1 meetings can be extra sticky.

Or extra boring.

Or feel like a waste of time.

Or non-existant?

This week on Episode 7 of Isogo TV | Live and Work Your Strengths Video Podcast, I’m sharing Part 1 of a series about getting the most out of your 1-on-1 meetings with the folks you lead.

So, managers and team leaders, this one is for you.

Today we start with a straightforward concept — that the questions you ask your team are the foundation of a great 1-on-1 meeting.

When your questions are intentional, natural, and tailored around their unique, natural patterns of thought, feeling, or behavior (their Talents!}, those 1-on-1 meetings can be the platform for engagement, productivity, and even change.

The part of this Episode that is actually the most exciting to me is the FREE BONUS TOOL that goes along with it. This cohesive printable provides specific strengths-oriented questions that you can use in your next 1-on-1 meeting, no matter where you’re starting.

So, check it out below the video. You will get a lot from it.
